Butylated Hydroxytoluene Induced Resistance Against Botryosphaeria dothidea in Apple Fruit

Yan Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, the potential plant activator butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) was evaluated for its effectiveness against Botryosphaeria dothidea in postharvest apple fruits. The results showed that BHT treatment can induce strong resistance in apple fruits against B. dothidea by increasing the activities of defensive enzymes and activating the SA signaling pathway. This suggests that BHT treatment could be a promising alternative strategy to control apple ring rot in postharvest fruits.

Improvement of shelf-life of mangoes by chitosan coating enriched with cinnamon oil dissolved in Tween 80 combined with ethanol

My Dong Lieu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficiency of the Pseudo-Ternary-Phase-Diagram method in improving the antifungal activity of cinnamon oil against Aspergillus niger for mango preservation. The results showed that ethanol was necessary to increase the solubility of cinnamon oil in the emulsifier, and the combination of chitosan and CTE maintained the antifungal efficiency of mango over 12 days.
