Thermal fracture of functionally graded thermal barrier coatings with pre-existing edge cracks and multiple internal cracks imitating a curved interface

Vera Petrova et al.

Summary: This work focuses on the thermal fracture problem of a functionally graded coating on a homogeneous substrate, with a special emphasis on a system of cracks simulating a curved interface. The stress intensity factors are calculated, and the crack propagation direction and critical loads for different fracture angles are determined under mixed-mode fracture conditions. The study also evaluates the fracture angles for cracks under different parameters of the FGC/H structure.
