The paper introduces a unified closed-form solution for calculating the lifetime of elastic spherical and cylindrical vessels subjected to pressures of corrosive media at different temperatures, taking into consideration the mechanochemical effect, the presence of anticorrosion coatings, and potential corrosion inhibition. The life of the vessels is determined by the competition of different mechanisms.
The paper presents a unified closed-form solution for the lifetime of elastic spherical and cylindrical vessels of arbitrary thickness subjected to pressures of corrosive media at different temperatures. The analysis takes into account the mechanochemical effect, the presence of anticorrosion coatings, and possible inhibition of corrosion. The life of the vessels is determined by competition of different mechanisms.
