Optimization and Thermal Analysis of Fe2O3Nanoparticles Embedded Myristic Acid-Lauric Acid Phase Change Material

Malvika Satish et al.

Summary: In this study, Fe(2)O(3) was successfully incorporated into the eutectic mixture, resulting in significantly improved melting and cooling rates for the optimized composite material. The enhanced heating/cooling rates are attributed to the effective impregnation of 4 wt.% Fe(2)O(3) nanostructures into the eutectic mixture.

Alok Kumar Ansu et al.

Summary: A novel composite of PEG with aluminum oxide nanoparticles was prepared for solar thermal energy storage system. The thermal properties and chemical stability were studied by DSC and FT-IR analysis, and the thermal reliability was tested through 1500 melt/freeze cycles. The results showed significant thermal properties of the composites, making them a good candidate for latent heat thermal energy storage systems.

Thermal Buffering Performance of a Propyl Palmitate/Expanded Perlite-Based Form-Stable Composite: Experiment and Numerical Modeling in a Building Model

Prakhar Dixit et al.

Summary: A phase change material (PCM) composite was prepared by impregnating propyl palmitate in expanded perlite for thermal buffering in building applications. The composite showed stable phase change enthalpy and thermal stability during 1000 thermal cycles, with the model-predicted temperatures closely matching experimental values. COMSOL Multiphysics 5.5 simulation further validated the thermal buffering performance of the composite in building applications.

A comprehensive review on development of eutectic organic phase change materials and their composites for low and medium range thermal energy storage applications

P. Singh et al.

Summary: Solar energy storage is crucial in bridging the gap between energy demand and supply, with latent heat energy storage being more favorable than sensible heat energy storage. Organic phase change materials have great potential for low to medium temperature thermal energy storage applications, with eutectic PCM development allowing customization of melting temperature and enthalpy for targeted applications. However, challenges such as low thermal conductivity and leakage during phase transition restrict the practical use of eutectic organic PCMs.
