Valorisation of invasive plant species in the production of polyelectrolytes

Ricardo Almeida et al.

Summary: This study aimed to valorize wood/wastes of invasive tree species by producing high value-added polyelectrolytes, which showed great potential as flocculants in treating industrial effluent from olive oil mills. Mild deconstruction procedures were proven effective in producing water-soluble polyelectrolytes without the complete removal of lignin from the wood.
