Methylene blue contaminated water sanitization with alginate/compact discs waste-derived activated carbon composite beads: Adsorption studies

Shadpour Mallakpour et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of activated carbon black on the adsorption behavior of methylene blue by alginate. A low-cost and green adsorbent was prepared using recycled waste compact discs. Results showed a significant increase in alginate removal yield with the addition of 15 wt% activated carbon black. Various isotherm and kinetic models were compared, with non-linear pseudo-second-order and linear Langmuir showing the best fitting to the experimental data.

Radioactive cesium ion removal from wastewater using polymer metal oxide composites

Birol Isik et al.

Summary: The study investigates the removal of radioactive cesium ion (Cs-137) from wastewater using novel composite adsorbents. Characterization of the adsorbents and Cs+ ion sorption process were analyzed. Langmuir model was found to be suitable for the adsorption of Cs+ ion by the adsorbents, along with determination of various parameters like pore size and pore volume.

Preparation of fibrous chitosan/sodium alginate composite foams for the adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes

Xiaolin Zhao et al.

Summary: Fibrous chitosan/sodium alginate composite foams prepared by lyophilization with ternary solvents exhibit suitable morphology for dye adsorption, showing high adsorption capacities for Acid Black-172 and Methylene Blue. The adsorption process follows pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model, indicating it is spontaneous. The composite foams have potential to effectively remove both cationic and anionic dyes from wastewater.

Reyhane Tabatabaeian et al.

Summary: Guar gum was chemically modified with Fe3O4/Ni-Al layered double hydroxide to prepare GG-LDH-Fe3O4 bionanocomposites, which were further cross-linked for enhanced adsorption of methylene blue. Analysis showed an improvement in thermal properties by 35% to 47% for the cross-linked composites, with an ability to remove 84% of the MB contaminants.
