Accelerating healing of excisional wound with alginate hydrogel containing naringenin in rat model

Summary: The alginate/naringenin hydrogel developed in this study showed positive effects on wound healing process, with appropriate porosity and biodegradability, as well as no toxicity to cells. In the rat experiment, the hydrogel containing 20% naringenin demonstrated the best wound closure among other groups.

Investigation of cell-free poly lactic acid/nanoclay scaffolds prepared via thermally induced phase separation technique containing hydroxyapatite nanocarriers of erythropoietin for bone tissue engineering applications

Summary: The study aimed to fabricate erythropoietin (EPO)-releasing poly lactic acid (PLA)/nanoclay (NC)/nanohydroxyaptitite (nHA) as a new scaffold for bone tissue engineering application. The fabricated scaffolds showed acceptable physical properties with sustained release of EPO, good in vitro biocompatibility, and significantly promoted bone formation and vascularization in a rat calvarial model. The presence of osteoblast in the defect confirmed the potential of EPO in inducing mesenchymal stem cells chemotaxis, making PLA/NC/nHA-EPO a promising cell-free bioscaffold for bone tissue regeneration.

Epidermal and fibroblast growth factors incorporated polyvinyl alcohol electrospun nanofibers as biological dressing scaffold

Summary: Different structures of PVA nanofiber wound dressing scaffolds were prepared and their biological activities were verified in vitro and in vivo studies. Changes in morphological features of nanofibers after growth factor incorporation were observed, promoting cell proliferation and growth. In animal experiments, mix and multilayer scaffolds had a better promotion effect on wound healing.

Enteral Iron Supplementation in Infants Born Extremely Preterm and its Positive Correlation with Neurodevelopment; Post Hoc Analysis of the Preterm Erythropoietin Neuroprotection Trial Randomized Controlled Trial

Summary: The study aimed to test whether increased iron dose is linked to improved neurodevelopment in preterm infants enrolled in the Epo Neuroprotection Trial. Results showed a significant positive association between iron dose at 60 days and cognitive scores, but no significant impact at 90 days. Infants treated with Epo showed consistently greater effect sizes compared to those treated with placebo.
