Formability enhancement of 5052 aluminium alloy sheet in electromagnetic impaction forming

Fei Feng et al.

Summary: Electromagnetic impaction forming altered the formability of 5052 aluminium alloy sheets, particularly with the consideration of bilinear strain paths and continuous non-linear strain paths, increasing its formability. The conventional QS-FLC is no longer suitable for evaluating the formability of electromagnetic impaction forming.

Formability of AA 2219-O sheet under quasi-static, electromagnetic dynamic, and mechanical dynamic tensile loadings

Hongliang Su et al.

Summary: The study qualitatively categorized and illustrated the mechanisms by which electromagnetic forming improves the formability of metals. Electromagnetic dynamic loading significantly increased the forming limit of AA 2219-O sheet compared to quasi-static loading, with a marginal improvement over mechanical dynamic loading. The deformation conditions, strain rate dependency, and inertial effects played key roles in the formability enhancement in electromagnetic and mechanical dynamic loadings.
