Acute pancreatitis and small bowel obstruction caused by a migratory gastric bezoar after dissolution therapy: A case report

Summary: Gastric bezoars are conglomerates of indigestible foreign material that can lead to complications such as gastric ulcer, gastrointestinal perforation, and intestinal obstruction. Rarely, they can also cause acute pancreatitis. Endoscopic therapy is the preferred treatment for gastric bezoars, but timing of repeat endoscopy is crucial during dissolution therapy with substances like Coca-Cola. In the presented case, a migratory gastric bezoar led to acute pancreatitis and small bowel obstruction, but the patient was successfully treated with endoscopic intervention.
