Ni/CeO2 promoted Ru and Pt supported on FeCrAl gauze for cycling methane catalytic partial oxidation-CPDX

Gianluca Pauletto et al.

Summary: Stranded natural gas has high operating and investment costs with conventional technologies, but milli-second reactors with high GHSV can reduce investment. A proposed Ni-based catalyst on FeCrAl knitted gauze can partially oxidize CH4 in air to syngas with high selectivity. Ru promoted catalysts have higher turnover rates in CH4 activation and Pt-containing catalysts form refractory carbon species. 2.25% Ni with 0.1% Ru shows the highest CH4 turnover rate and CO selectivity under specific conditions.
