Nanoparticle powders of CuIn1-xFexSe2 alloys with varying Fe content have been synthesized using the solvothermal method. The structural and optical properties of the nanoparticles are strongly influenced by the Fe content, as observed through X-ray diffraction and optical studies.
Nanoparticle powders of CuIn1-xFexSe2 (x = 0, 0.05, 0.19, 0.30 and 0.50) alloys have been synthesized using the solvothermal method. The structural and optical properties of the nanoparticles properties are strongly influenced by the atomic percentage of iron present in the CuIn1-xFexSe2 quaternary compound. CuIn1-xFexSe2 nanopowders are crystallized in the tetragonal chalcopyrite phase as shown by X-ray diffraction. Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy analyses showed that CuIn1-xFexSe2 compounds are triangular-shaped nanoparticles varying in size that averages from 24 to 29 nm. Optical study showed an increase behavior in band gap of the nanopowders from 1.1 eV to 1.5 eV by varying x from 0 to 0.50.
