Three one-dimensional quaternary selenidoarsenates containing mercury were synthesized by solvothermal method. Compounds 1-3 are isostructural and exhibit semiconductor properties with absorption edges around 2 eV. Their crystal structure consists of a 1-D anionic chain and a complex cation.
Three one-dimensional (1-D) structure quaternary selenidoarsenates containing mercury [TM(en)(3)][HgAs2Se4] (TM--Mn, Ni, Zn) (en = ethylenediamine) were synthesized by solvothermal method. Compounds 1-3 are isostructural and single crystal X-ray diffraction results show that 1-3 belong to the Monoclinic crystal system, P21/ c space group. 1-3 consists of a 1-D [HgAs2Se4](2-)anionic chain and the complex cation [TM(en)(3)](2+), in which the [HgAs2Se4](2-)chain is formed by tetrahedral [HgSe4] connected to dimer As24+ via As-Se bond. Their absorption edges are 2.07 eV(1), 2.15 eV(2) and 2.03 eV(3), which exhibits that these three compounds can act as semiconductor materials. In addition their thermal stability, photocatalytic, photocurrent responses have been studied.
