Effect of barium oxide on structural features and thermal properties of vanadium phosphate glasses

Soumya Ferraa et al.

Summary: Novel vanadyl-phosphate glasses with varying compositions were synthesized, showing amorphous nature. Density and molar volume changed with composition, with BaO contributing to increased thermal stability and V2O5 decreasing the intensity of characteristic bands of phosphate chain in FTIR spectroscopy analysis.

Insights into corrosion inhibition mechanism of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution by quinoxaline derivatives: electrochemical, SEM/EDAX, UV-visible, FT-IR and theoretical approaches

M. Ouakki et al.

Summary: Three quinoxaline-based heterocycles were evaluated as inhibitors for mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl. The inhibition effectiveness of these compounds increased with concentration, with adsorption onto the metal surface following Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Interaction mechanism and mode of adsorption were studied using computational simulations.

Adsorption of redox-active Schiff bases and corrosion inhibiting property for mild steel in 1 molL-1 H2SO4: Experimental analysis supported by ab initio DFT, DFTB and molecular dynamics simulation approach

Sirsendu Sengupta et al.

Summary: The synthesized Schiff base molecules show excellent corrosion inhibition properties for mild steels immersed in 1 mol L(-1) H2SO4 solution, forming a protective layer over the metal surface. Surface studies and elemental characterizations confirm the formation of corrosion protection layers. The adsorption capability and spontaneity of the synthesized inhibitors were explained based on experimental findings, density functional theory, and Fukui indices analysis.

Insight into the corrosion inhibition of new amino-acids as efficient inhibitors for mild steel in HCl solution: Experimental studies and theoretical calculations

M. Oubaaqa et al.

Summary: Phenylalanine and Aspartic acid have been studied for their inhibition of mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid solution, with their efficiency increasing with concentration and following the Langmuir adsorption mechanism. These compounds act as mixed inhibitors and decrease the dissolution of ferric ions in corrosive solutions, with good adsorption on the MS surface observed through SEM images. Computational methods like DFT, MCS, and MDS were used to study the metal-inhibitor interaction type.
