Quest for an Efficient 2-in-1 MOF-Based Catalytic System for Cycloaddition of CO2 to Epoxides under Mild Conditions

Marzena Pander et al.

Summary: A tandem postsynthetic modification strategy was developed for Zr-based metal-organic framework (MOF) materials, resulting in well-defined 2-in-1 heterogeneous catalysts with high catalytic activity in the synthesis of cyclic carbonates. Experimental measurements, including DRIFT and solid-state NMR, helped elucidate the role of each component in the catalytic reaction, especially the cooperative effect between Lewis acid sites and the co-catalyst in the heterogeneous system.

Microwave-Assisted Air Epoxidation of Mixed Biolefins over a Spherical Bimetal ZnCo-MOF Catalyst

Lu Yang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of spherical bimetal ZnCo-MOF materials was achieved using a hydrothermal rotacrystallization method, with their catalytic activity on air epoxidation of mixed biolefins enhanced by microwaves. Among the synthesized catalysts, Zn0.1Co1-MOF-H-150 rpm exhibited the highest acidic content and strongest acidity, showing the best performance in the epoxidation reaction. The Zn0.1Co1-MOF catalyst could be recycled six times without significant loss of catalytic activity, demonstrating its stability under microwave conditions.
