Distributed-ensemble stacked autoencoder model for nonlinear process monitoring

Zhichao Li et al.

Summary: "This study introduces a distributed-ensemble stacked autoencoder (DE-SAE) model for monitoring non-linear, large-scale, multi-unit processes. The model utilizes deep learning techniques to extract deep features and statistics for fault detection in local units, as well as to model global information using SAE for global monitoring. Experimental results validate the feasibility and superiority of the proposed method in handling complex non-linear relationships in industrial processes."

Modelling for froth flotation control: A review

Paulina Quintanilla et al.

Summary: The paper reviews models for froth flotation control, finding that existing models primarily focus on the pulp phase and neglect the froth phase. To achieve better control, there is a need to develop models suitable for the froth phase and more complex models for the pulp phase.

Deep reinforcement learning with reference system to handle constraints for energy-efficient train control

Mengying Shang et al.

Summary: Train energy-efficient control involves complex optimization processes with various constraints. Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has shown potential for intelligent control, but a new approach with a reference system (DRL-RS) is proposed in this article for proactive constraint handling, leading to faster learning convergence and reduced energy consumption compared to traditional methods like genetic algorithms.

Overcoming model bias for robust offline deep reinforcement learning

Phillip Swazinna et al.

Summary: State-of-the-art reinforcement learning algorithms heavily rely on direct interaction with the environment, which poses challenges when transferring success to industrial control problems. Recently developed model-free, offline RL algorithms can learn from a single dataset by reducing extrapolation errors in value functions. By using dynamics models to assess policy performance instead of value functions, the MOOSE algorithm improves the robustness and stability of the learning process.

Two-Stream Deep Feature-Based Froth Flotation Monitoring Using Visual Attention Clues

Mingxi Ai et al.

Summary: This study developed a deep learning-based two-stream feature extraction model to extract froth appearance and movement features, and proposed a hybrid prediction model that includes a time-series analysis module and an attention mechanism to establish the prediction relationship between image features and concentrate grade. Comparison experiments using historical industry data confirmed the superiority of the proposed monitoring method, with industrial experiments achieving a coefficient of determination of 0.9256, representing a 7.9% improvement over an existing expert system.
