Balancing reality in embedded research and evaluation: Low vs high embeddedness

George L. Jackson et al.

Summary: Embedding research and evaluation into organizations is a way to accelerate evidence-based innovations, but balancing the pros and cons of low and high levels of embeddedness is essential. Considerations such as alignment of goals, involvement in strategic planning, observation vs involvement in program activities, reporting findings vs providing iterative recommendations, and adhering to or adapting predetermined aims must be balanced in developing these relationships.
