Modeling Inflammation in Zebrafish for the Development of Anti-inflammatory Drugs

Yufei Xie et al.

Summary: Zebrafish is an important animal model for studying inflammation and developing novel anti-inflammatory drugs, with various models such as tail fin amputation, chemical-induced inflammation, and gene mutant lines available for research. These models are utilized to unravel molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory response and screen for potential anti-inflammatory compounds.

Myeloid-derived growth factor regulates neutrophil motility in interstitial tissue damage

Ruth A. Houseright et al.

Summary: MYDGF, induced by tissue damage, regulates neutrophil motility to damaged tissues through the HIF-1α pathway. Depletion of MYDGF impairs wound healing and inflammation resolution, while persistent neutrophil inflammation in MYDGF mutants is dependent on HIF-1α pathway.

Whole brain functional recordings at cellular resolution in zebrafish larvae with 3D scanning multiphoton microscopy

Matteo Bruzzone et al.

Summary: Optical recordings of neuronal activity at cellular resolution are a valuable tool for investigating brain mechanisms. In this study, a new design for whole brain imaging based on sequential 3D point-scanning excitation is presented. By adopting this approach, functional responses from retinal ganglion cells and whole brain activity in zebrafish larvae can be detected with high resolution.

Pioneer neutrophils release chromatin within in vivo swarms

Hannah M. Isles et al.

Summary: Neutrophils are rapidly recruited to inflammatory sites where they form clusters through a process called neutrophil swarming. Study using transgenic zebrafish larvae shows that neutrophil swarming is a conserved process in zebrafish immunity and involves the release of cellular components by pioneer neutrophils to initiate the swarming process.
