Multiport Hybrid DC Circuit Breaker With Reduced Fault Isolation Time and Soft Reclosing Capability

Shuo Zhang et al.

Summary: This article proposes a novel multiport hybrid dc circuit breaker (MHCB) to address the high cost, long fault isolation time, and temporary fault issues of existing hybrid dc circuit breakers. The MHCB reduces implementation cost by sharing the main breaker among multiple lines, reduces fault isolation time by bypassing the current limiting inductor, and has the ability to reclose softly.

A Reclosing Scheme of Hybrid DC Circuit Breaker for MMC-HVdc Systems

Shuo Zhang et al.

Summary: This article proposes a reclosing scheme to avoid the nonselective reclose of HCBs. Through injecting traveling wave signal and judging the fault by propagation characteristics difference, the scheme shows robustness to various faults and minimal impact on the healthy part of the system even in the case of permanent faults, as verified by extensive simulations.

A Comprehensive Review of Auto-Reclosing Schemes in AC, DC, and Hybrid (AC/DC) Transmission Lines

Arif Mehdi et al.

Summary: The integration of distributed generators has changed the modern power transmission systems, with the focus on efficient utilization of power transmission. Adaptive auto-reclosing schemes are necessary to improve system reliability and prevent power failures caused by rapid restoration of faulty power lines. Further research and improvements are recommended for each medium (AC, DC, and hybrid AC/DC) to enhance the effectiveness of auto-reclosing schemes.
