Estimation of Polar Depletion Regions by VTEC Contrast and Watershed Enhancing

Enrique Monte-Moreno et al.

Summary: This article presents a method for determining ionization depletion regions and troughs in near-polar areas using GNSS data. The method uses image processing tools and watershed segmentation algorithm to identify the edges of these regions and enhance the contrast between low and high ionization areas. The method has been validated in different ionospheric conditions.

What controls the luminosity of polar cap airglow patches?: Implication from airglow measurements in Eureka, Canada in comparison with SuperDARN convection pattern

K. Hosokawa et al.

Summary: Polar cap patches are islands of enhanced electron density in the polar cap F region ionosphere. The brightness of these patches increases during specific UT intervals, likely due to the influence of plasma in the sunlit area. Additionally, when the IMF By is positive, the number of polar cap patches doubles, and the configuration of plasma convection affects the direction of patch transport.

Ionospheric Total Electron Content Estimation Using GNSS Carrier Phase Observations Based on Zero-Difference Integer Ambiguity: Methodology and Assessment

Xiaodong Ren et al.

Summary: This paper discusses different methods for TEC observation extraction and demonstrates through experiments that the PPP-Fixed method has advantages in accuracy and reliability. The study found that TEC observations extracted by the PPP-Fixed method have high precision, fast convergence speed, and excellent performance even in short arc experiments.
