EEGANet: Removal of Ocular Artifacts From the EEG Signal Using Generative Adversarial Networks

Phattarapong Sawangjai et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a framework called EEGANet based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) for ocular artifacts removal without the need for electrooculography (EOG) recording or eye-blink detection algorithms. The results show that EEGANet performs comparably to state-of-the-art methods that utilize EOG channels for artifact removal and achieves equivalent classification performance in BCI applications.

Removal of EOG artifacts and separation of different cerebral activity components from single channel EEG-An efficient approach combining SSA-ICA with wavelet thresholding for BCI applications

Sayedu Khasim Noorbasha et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel model combining SSA and ICA is proposed to address the problem of EOG artifacts removal and separation of different cerebral activities in single-channel contaminated EEG signals. The model outperforms existing techniques in terms of artifact separation performance, as demonstrated through MATLAB simulations on synthetically generated and real-life EEG signals.

Research on removal algorithm of EOG artifacts in single-channel EEG signals based on CEEMDAN-BD

Quanyu Wu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method utilizing the CEEMDAN-BD algorithm to separate EEG signals and EOG artifacts, successfully achieving separation through iterative construction of cost function. The results demonstrate better separation effectiveness on EOG artifacts than previous studies, with a correlation coefficient of 0.81 in real-life data, solving the modal aliasing problem and retaining most of the original EEG signal components.

High-speed ocular artifacts removal of multichannel EEG based on improved moment matching

Qiuxia Shi et al.

Summary: The study developed an improved moment matching method to effectively remove ocular artifacts from multichannel EEG and enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, especially in the frontal region. Compared to existing methods like independent component analysis, the IMM showed better performance in preserving EEG waveform information while improving SNR.

Eye-blink artifact removal from single channel EEG with k-means and SSA

Ajay Kumar Maddirala et al.

Summary: In this study, a new framework combining unsupervised machine learning algorithm and singular spectrum analysis technique was proposed to remove eye-blink artifact from single channel EEG signal without modifying the original EEG signal. The results showed that the proposed method outperformed existing techniques in removing eye-blink artifact while keeping the uncontaminated regions of the EEG signal intact.
