Recycling of spent lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxides via a low-temperature ammonium sulfation roasting approach

Yiqi Tang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a low-temperature pyro-metallurgical approach to recycling spent LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM622) from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, converting it into water-soluble sulfates through (NH4)2SO4 roasting. By manipulating operating temperature and other parameters, highly efficient sulfation reactions are achieved, leading to the closed-loop recycling of regenerated NCM622.
