GATOR1-related focal cortical dysplasia in epilepsy surgery patients and their families: A possible gradient in severity?

Barbora Benova et al.

Summary: The presented cases showed a gradient in severity of phenotype with children being more affected than parents. Patients with GATOR1-associated FCD are considered good candidates for surgery, despite the genetic variants being inherited from asymptomatic parents in some cases.

Hemimegalencephaly and intractable seizures associated with the NPRL3 gene variant in a newborn: A case report

Indira Chandrasekar et al.

Summary: Hemimegalencephaly (HME) is a rare congenital malformation of the brain characterized by dysplastic overgrowth of one cerebral hemisphere. It is associated with early onset seizures and neurological abnormalities, often requiring hemispherectomy for seizure control. The exact etiology involves disruption of early brain development and genes responsible for brain patterning and symmetry.
