Piperazine-containing polyamide complexes with Co2+ ions and the related solvatochromic effect

Yunfan Zhang et al.

Summary: A new method was established to prepare polyamides with a chelating feature through Michael addition and polycondensation. N,N'-bis(methyl propanoate) piperazine (BMPZ) was synthesized via a Michael addition of piperazine and methyl acrylate, and then three PIP-PAs were synthesized with piperazine rings. The modified PIP-PAs showed good mechanical property and solvatochromic feature after chelation with Co2+.
