Post-ACA, More Than One-Third Of Women With Prenatal Medicaid Remained Uninsured Before Or After Pregnancy

Summary: The study found that among new mothers with Medicaid-covered prenatal care, approximately one-quarter were uninsured before pregnancy, around one-fifth became uninsured two to six months postpartum, and 34.5% were uninsured in either period. Higher rates of perinatal uninsurance were observed in nonexpansion states and among Hispanic women who completed the survey in Spanish.
