The effect of tillage management on microbial functions in a maize crop at different slope positions

Meng Xu et al.

Summary: This study used soil samples from experimental plots of maize to investigate the effects of different tillage methods on soil carbon, nitrogen, and microbial properties. The results indicate that conventional management has a certain impact on greenhouse gas emissions, with higher organic carbon and total nitrogen contents in the soil, as well as higher soil mineral nitrogen concentrations.

Arable lands under the pressure of multiple land degradation processes. A global perspective

Remus Pravalie et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of land degradation on global arable lands, finding that aridity is the primary pressure affecting 40% of arable lands worldwide. Soil erosion is also significant, affecting around 20% of global arable systems.
