Regionalization of Seasonal Precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau and Associated Large-Scale Atmospheric Systems

Hui-Wen Lai et al.

Summary: By utilizing satellite data and meteorological observations, it was found that precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau exhibits distinct seasonal characteristics, with identified regimes of winter peak, early summer peak, and late summer peak that are influenced by large-scale circulation systems.

Surface Velocity Analysis of Surge Region of Karayaylak Glacier from 2014 to 2020 in the Pamir Plateau

Yanfei Peng et al.

Summary: The study of the west branch of Karayaylak Glacier suggests that the surge event in 2015 was influenced by thermal and hydrological control mechanisms. The research findings demonstrate the periodic changes in glacier velocity, and highlight the high potential of the GEE platform and Sentinel-1 data for extracting glacier surface velocity.

A Surging Glacier Recognized by Remote Sensing on the Zangser Kangri Ice Field, Central Tibetan Plateau

Bowen Jia et al.

Summary: A surging glacier was discovered on the Zangser Kangri ice field in the Central Tibetan Plateau, with evidence showing the surge event started between late 2012 and early 2014. The glacier may have surged in the 1970s as well, and has maintained a slightly positive mass balance since 1999, potentially due to its location on the southern edge of mass balance anomaly on the Tibetan Plateau. The characteristics of relatively balanced mass condition, large size, and shallow slope may be associated with glacier surges in the Central and Northern Tibetan Plateau.

Analysis of local land atmosphere coupling characteristics over Tibetan Plateau in the dry and rainy seasons using observational data and ERA5

Genhou Sun et al.

Summary: The study on LoCo characteristics over the Tibetan Plateau from 2011 to 2014 shows clear seasonal variations in PBL energy budgets at the four stations, influenced by the Southern Asian monsoon and westerly jet stream. The spatial distributions of monthly mean PBL energy budgets are strongly influenced by snow cover in the dry season and soil moisture in the rainy season, indicating significant relationships between surface sensible heat flux and PBLH under different seasonal conditions.
