Coupled detrital zircon U?Pb and Hf analysis of the Sibumasu Terrane: From Gondwana to northwest Thailand

Romana E. C. Dew et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopic information of detrital zircons from Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks obtained from the Sibumasu Terrane in northwest Thailand. The results reveal a temporal change in detrital ages from older Paleozoic sequences to latest Permian-Triassic units associated with Indosinian zircon sources.

Provenance of Lower Jurassic sediments in the South China continental margin: Evidence from U-Pb ages of detrital zircons

Jintao Kong et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the source areas and transport modes of Lower Jurassic sediments on the South China continental margin, and found that the distribution system was significantly influenced by Paleo-Pacific subduction. Different regions had distinct primary source areas, with the central region being a vast shallow sea in the Early Jurassic due to large-scale transgression.

Precambrian crustal evolution in Northern Indian Block: Evidence from detrital zircon U-Pb ages and Hf-isotopes

Zhongwu Lan et al.

Summary: Integrated detrital zircon U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope analyses in sedimentary rocks from central India reveal different age groupings of zircon grains, which match well with exposed magmatic and metamorphic rock components in the Northern India Block, providing crucial insights into crustal growth and plate tectonics evolution.

Sedimentary records of the late Early Cretaceous compressional setting in the South China block: A case study of the Xingning Basin, Guangdong Province

Jintao Kong et al.

Summary: Recent studies challenge the belief that the South China Block was under an extensional setting in the Cretaceous, suggesting instead a compressive tectonic regime. The sedimentary rocks from the Early Cretaceous in the Xingning Basin indicate a source mainly from granites and sedimentary rocks. Detrital zircon geochronology shows a shift in the main source area from the Wuyi Terrane to the southeast coastal regions during the late Early Cretaceous.
