A systematic experimental and modeling study of water adsorption/ desorption behavior in organic-rich shale with different particle sizes

Wei Dang et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigates the isotherms, hysteresis, thermodynamics, and kinetics of water adsorption/desorption in organic-rich shale. Different particle sizes were used to measure water adsorption and desorption, and thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were extracted and discussed in relation to pore structure, temperature, relative pressure, and particle size. Various models were employed to interpret the data and provide a comprehensive understanding of the behavior of water-shale adsorption/desorption.

A decoupled stabilized finite element method for the dual-porosity-Navier-Stokes fluid flow model arising in shale oil

Liang Gao et al.

Summary: In this paper, the decoupled stabilized finite element method for the dual-porosity-Navier-Stokes model is considered, which couples the free flow region and the microfracture-matrix system using four interface conditions. The method is decoupled in two levels, dividing the coupling problem into three subproblems in a non-iterative manner to improve computational efficiency. The stability and convergence of the decoupling scheme are also analyzed, and theoretical results are illustrated through numerical experiments.

Nanoscale liquid hydrocarbon adsorption on clay minerals: A molecular dynamics simulation of shale oils

Zhe Cao et al.

Summary: Adsorption of liquid hydrocarbons in clay minerals was studied through molecular dynamics simulations, showing different adsorption capacities based on hydrocarbon type and structural morphology. The adsorption behavior is influenced by the pore size of the adsorbent and the polarity of the hydrocarbon component, affecting the interaction between hydrocarbon and clay minerals.
