Clinicopathologic Characterization of Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma in a Series of 62 Cases A Proposal of Risk Stratification and Identification of a Synaptophysin-positive Aggressive Subset

Takahiro Shibayama et al.

Summary: Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a rare vascular endothelial neoplasm with heterogeneous clinical presentation and prognosis. Prognostic factors such as large tumor size and histologic atypia are significantly associated with shorter survival, and a proposed risk assessment system using these factors can stratify patients into different survival groups. A subset with aberrant synaptophysin expression may have potential prognostic and diagnostic implications.

Recurrent YAP1-TFE3 Gene Fusions in Clear Cell Stromal Tumor of the Lung

Abbas Agaimy et al.

Summary: Clear cell (hemangioblastoma-like) stromal tumor of the lung (CCST-L) is a recently described rare pulmonary neoplasm, potentially driven by YAP1-TFE3 fusion. These tumors exhibit unique histological features and further large series studies are needed to elucidate their biological behavior.

YAP1-TFE3 gene fusion variant in clear cell stromal tumour of lung: report of two cases in support of a distinct entity

Josephine K. Dermawan et al.

Summary: This study described two cases of clear cell stromal tumour of the lung with YAP1-TFE3 gene fusion. The fusion breakpoints were identified in YAP1 exon 4 and TFE3 exon 7, distinguishing them from other similar tumors. Both tumors showed diffusely positive for nuclear TFE3 and have not recurred or metastasized after complete surgical resection.

YAP1-TFE3-fused hemangioendothelioma: a multi-institutional clinicopathologic study of 24 genetically-confirmed cases

Josephine K. Dermawan et al.

Summary: YAP1-TFE3-fused hemangioendothelioma is a rare malignant vascular tumor with a female predominance. It commonly occurs in soft tissue and bone. Different histopathological patterns and variable expression of certain proteins, but consistent presence of YAP1-TFE3 gene fusion, were observed. Surgical resection is a common treatment approach and patients generally have a favorable prognosis.

Superficial ALK-rearranged myxoid spindle cell neoplasm: a cutaneous soft tissue tumor with distinctive morphology and immunophenotypic profile

Josephine K. Dermawan et al.

Summary: This is a cutaneous soft tissue tumor with ALK rearrangement, characterized by unique morphological and immunophenotypic features. Immunohistochemical analysis showed positive staining for ALK, CD34, and often S100 protein, with no significant malignant characteristics identified.

Loss of expression of YAP1 C-terminus as an ancillary marker for epithelioid hemangioendothelioma variant with YAP1-TFE3 fusion and other YAP1-related vascular neoplasms

William J. Anderson et al.

Summary: Loss of YAP1-CT expression may be associated with good sensitivity and specificity for EHE variant with YAP1-TFE3 fusion, providing additional support in challenging cases along with TFE3 and CAMTA1 IHC. This marker may also be useful in the diagnosis of RHE and CHE.
