Moisture re-adsorption characteristics of hydrochar generated from the Co-hydrothermal carbonization of PVC and alkali coal

Peitao Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the moisture re-adsorption characteristics of hydrochar obtained under various co-HTC operating conditions, finding that temperature and humidity significantly affected the water re-adsorption capacity of hydrochar. The addition of PVC could effectively inhibit the moisture re-adsorption behavior of hydrochar, resulting in a more hydrophobic product. The suitable temperature for obtaining hydrophobic hydrochar through co-HTC was determined to be 300 degrees C due to lower equilibrium moisture content and adsorption heat.

Xiaoluan Lu et al.

Summary: The addition of lignocellulosic biomass reduced the release of heavy metals and potential ecological risks. Hydrochar derived from co-HTC had higher fuel ratio and high HHV, with safer and more stable combustion behavior compared to that derived from SS.

Effect of reactant types (steam, CO2 and steam + CO2) on the gasification performance of coal using entrained flow gasifier

M. Shahabuddin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the gasification behavior of bituminous coal using different reactants at varying temperatures, finding that steam gasification achieved higher carbon conversion rates and lower heating values compared to CO2 gasification. Additionally, a mixture of CO2 and steam resulted in increased yields of H-2, CO and CH4 compared to pure CO2 gasification.

Co-hydrothermal carbonization of different feedstocks to hydrochar as potential energy for the future world: A review

Mondira Bardhan et al.

Summary: Co-hydrothermal carbonization (co-HTC) is a promising thermochemical technique to convert organic solid waste into value-added hydrochar products. Co-HTC of different feedstock blends enhances the yield, properties, and quality of hydrochar, while reducing waste load and pollution issues. The mixing ratio of feedstock emerges as the most important variable in co-HTC.

Steam gasification of hydrochar derived from hydrothermal carbonization of fruit wastes

Shakirudeen A. Salaudeen et al.

Summary: This study numerically investigated the steam gasification of hydrochar derived from fruit wastes using Aspen Plus. The results showed that hydrothermal carbonization increased the CO content and decreased the CO2 content of the syngas, while HHV increased with pressure. Temperature had an impact on the composition of the syngas.
