Debunking the Impact of Salinity on Crude Oil/Water Interfacial Tension

Mohammad Fattahi Mehraban et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of salinity on oil/water interfacial interactions and identifies that low salinity water injection promotes the formation of water microdispersion at the oil/water interface.

Effects of salinity and ionic composition of smart water on mineral scaling in carbonate reservoirs during water flooding

Javad Ghasemian et al.

Summary: The study investigated the risk of formation damage caused by mineral scales deposition during smart waterflooding into carbonate core samples. The salinity, ionic composition of injected water, and contact time played significant roles in mineral scaling and precipitation, affecting permeability decline. Visual analysis of scaled core samples showed that the accumulation and growth of scale crystals perpendicular to pore walls were the main cause of permeability loss.
