Facile fabrication of hollow structured Cu-Ce binary oxides and their catalytic properties for toluene combustion

Lei Li et al.

Summary: A series of hollow structured CuCeOx composite catalysts with different Cu/Ce molar ratios were synthesized via a simple hydrothermal approach and applied in catalytic combustion of toluene. Among the catalysts, Cu6Ce4Ox catalyst showed superior catalytic performance, attributed to its high surface area, low-temperature reducibility, and abundant surface active oxygen species. The DRIFTs results revealed the possible pathway for toluene oxidation, involving intermediates such as benzyl alcohol, benzaldehyde, and benzoate species leading to decomposition into CO2 and H2O.

Double redox process to synthesize CuO-CeO2 catalysts with strong Cu-Ce interaction for efficient toluene oxidation

Yiqing Zeng et al.

Summary: A novel double redox method was developed to synthesize highly active CuO-CeO2 (CuCe-DR) catalyst, which exhibits higher Ce3+ and Cu2+ ion concentrations and stronger Cu-Ce interaction compared to CuCe-C catalyst. CuCe-DR catalyst shows higher toluene oxidation performance and stability at low temperatures, attributed to the increased surface chemisorbed oxygen and improved redox properties.

Effect of strong interaction between Co and Ce oxides in CoxCe1-xO2-8 oxides on its catalytic oxidation of toluene

Ahmed Ismail et al.

Summary: A series of CoxCe1-xO2-8 oxides were synthesized and applied for catalytic toluene oxidation, with Co0.2Ce0.8O2-8 exhibiting the best catalytic activity and maintaining stable activity in three successive tests. The strong interaction between Co and Ce oxides was found to play a key role in enhancing catalytic performance by forming a solid solution, leading to abundant active oxygen species on the surface.

Construction of Cu-Ce composite oxides by simultaneous ammonia evaporation method to enhance catalytic performance of Ce-Cu/SiO2 catalysts for dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation

Chong-Chong Chen et al.

Summary: Introducing a cerium promoter at the mixing stage can improve the performance of Cu-based catalysts by forming robust Cu-Ce composite oxides which provide more active sites and enhance the synergy between Cu-0 and Cu+. However, if the Ce3+ and Cu2+ are not introduced at the same stage, the cerium promoter may cover partial active sites and decrease the catalytic performance. This study provides valuable insights for designing stable nano copper-based catalysts and establishing an effective introduction mechanism for promoters.

Highly efficient simultaneous removal of HCHO and elemental mercury over Mn-Co oxides promoted Zr-AC samples

Xueyu Du et al.

Summary: The Mn2/3Co8/Zr-10-AC prepared by impregnation method showed excellent efficiency in simultaneous removal of HCHO and Hg-0, attributed to higher dispersion of active components facilitated by increased surface area and pore volume. The co-doping of MnOx-CoOx enhanced the sample with more active oxygen species and higher reducibility, leading to improved removal of HCHO and Hg-0.
