A brief review of CO2 utilization for alkali carbonate gasification and biomass/coal co-gasification: Reactivity, products and process

Atif Abdalazeez et al.

Summary: Carbon gasification in molten alkali carbonate salts over CO2 is an effective process for producing gaseous fuels and reducing the greenhouse effect. Alkali carbonate salts facilitate the Boudouard reaction which is difficult to occur at high temperatures without a catalyst. Combining CO2 gasification of biomass and coal with alkali carbonate salts can enhance carbon conversion rates and CO yields.

The evolution of catalytically active calcium catalyst during steam gasification of lignite char

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: Coal or coal char/pyrocarbon gasification is an effective way to produce cheaper hydrogen, with research showing that calcium in lignite has high catalytic activity for gasification, and organically bound calcium plays a key role in the catalytic process.

Impact of particle size and catalyst dispersion on gasification rates measured in a thermogravimetric analysis unit: Case study of carbon black catalyzed by potassium or calcium

Ross A. Arnold et al.

Summary: The particle size of the gasification feed and catalyst, as well as their dispersion, were found to impact gasification rates. Ball-milling was shown to reduce particle size and increase catalyst dispersion, leading to higher gasification rates compared to hand-mixing. By considering these factors, it is possible to better understand and control gasification processes.

An overview of the coal ash transition process from solid to slag

Wenju Shi et al.

Summary: The issues related to coal ash have hindered the industrialization of entrained flow gasification, but through exploration and research on the fusion process of coal ash, certain indices for evaluating sintering and slagging severity can be identified. Additionally, research on mineral transformation, molecular dynamics simulations, and kinetic analysis play crucial roles in studying the ash fusion mechanism.
