A highly active Ni catalyst supported on Mg-substituted LaAlO3 for carbon dioxide reforming of methane

Xiaoli Bai et al.

Summary: In this study, pristine and Mg-substituted LaAlO3 perovskites were synthesized by the citrate sol-gel method and used as supports for Ni catalysts in CO2 reforming of methane. The Ni/La0.8Mg0.2AlO2.9 catalyst showed smaller Ni nanoparticles which led to enhanced reforming activity, and the improved stability was attributed to better anti-coke and anti-sintering properties. The research demonstrates that perovskites with appropriate surface modification can serve as novel supports for highly active catalysts.

Elucidation of the role of support in Rh/perovskite catalysts used in ethanol steam reforming reaction

Asiele Hernandez Martinez et al.

Summary: The study found that partially replacing La with Ca and Ce in Rh/perovskite catalysts can improve the specific surface area of the support and activate oxygen mobility, leading to enhanced catalytic performance. However, for Rh/LaCeAlO3 0.3% catalyst, although it showed low carbon accumulation and longer reaction time, deactivation occurred after 14 hours.

Enhanced activity and stability of MgO-promoted Ni/Al2O3 catalyst for dry reforming of methane: Role of MgO

Baitang Jin et al.

Summary: The study deposited highly dispersed nickel nanoparticles on aluminum oxide using atomic layer deposition, and found that the addition of MgO increased the basicity of catalyst surfaces, assisting CO2 adsorption and activation. Although the formation of NiO-MgO solid solution did not improve overall reducibility, the interaction between reduced Ni nanoparticles and MgO inhibited sintering and provided sufficient metal-support interface for CO2 activation, leading to higher methane reforming rates.

Pyrolysis of methane via thermal steam plasma for the production of hydrogen and carbon black

Alan Maslani et al.

Summary: The study investigates methane pyrolysis for hydrogen and solid carbon production using a plasma reactor equipped with a DC plasma torch. Optimal methane conversion rates and gas composition were achieved at specific plasma power and input methane flow rates. The presence of oxygen was found to enhance methane conversion efficiency despite lower available energy.

Study of the perovskite-type catalysts 40LaNi0.75Fe0.25-X MXO3/SiO2 (M=Ce, Zr) for the dry reforming of methane

Pradeep Kumar Yadav et al.

Summary: A series of perovskite-type oxide catalysts 40LaNi(0.75)Fe(0.25-x)M(x)O(3)/SiO2 (M=Ce, Zr) were synthesized by the citrate sol-gel method and used for dry reforming of methane (DRM) reaction. The ceria and zirconia promoters showed the highest yield and conversion of the product, reducing carbon deposition. The catalyst maintained its activity without deactivation during the DRM reaction for up to 6 hours.

Ni/SiO2 Catalyst Prepared by Strong Electrostatic Adsorption for a Low-Temperature Methane Dry Reforming Reaction

Fagen Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the supported Ni/SiO2-E catalyst synthesized by strong electrostatic adsorption exhibited higher performance in low-temperature MDR, attributed to the smaller Ni size and stronger Ni-SiO2 interaction, which contributed to reduced carbon deposition and minimized sintering of Ni nanoparticles.

A review on dry reforming of methane over perovskite derived catalysts

Srikar Bhattar et al.

Summary: Perovskite-derived catalysts in dry reforming of methane exhibit superior catalytic performance due to the synergistic effects of bimetallic addition at the B site and enhanced oxygen mobility through A site substitutions. The use of high surface area supports also greatly influences the physicochemical and catalytic behavior of perovskite-derived catalysts. The exsolution process involved in the reduction of perovskite catalysts produces smaller size metal particles which dictate the superior catalytic performance of these materials.

Integrated process of coal pyrolysis with dry reforming of low carbon alkane over Ni/La2O3-ZrO2 with different La/Zr ratio

Jiannan Lv et al.

Summary: In the process of integrated coal pyrolysis and dry reforming of low carbon alkane (CP-DRA), Ni4LaZr catalyst shows good anti-carbon deposition performance and high tar yield, with excellent regenerability and stability. The presence of stable pyrochlore La2Zr2O7 and excess La2O3 in Ni4LaZr inhibits carbon deposition, contributing to its high performance and stability.

Reducing carbon deposition and enhancing reaction stability by ceria for methane dry reforming over Ni@SiO2@CeO2 catalyst

Kaihang Han et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that methane dry reforming on the Ni@SiO2@CeO2 catalyst exhibits higher performance and lower carbon deposition, attributed to the high oxygen mobility of ceria. The strategy of ceria coating can reduce carbon deposition and enhance reaction stability.

Role of lattice oxygen in methane activation on Ni-phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 core-shell catalyst for methane dry reforming: Zr doping effect, mechanism, and kinetic study

Sonali Das et al.

Summary: Sandwich structured core-shell Ni-Phyllosilicate@Ce1-xZrxO2 catalysts with optimal Zr loading in the Ce1-xZrxO2 shell are found to greatly enhance the intrinsic activity for DRM due to increased lattice oxygen mobility of the ceria-zirconia shell and stronger metal-support interaction with Ni. Involvement of lattice oxygen in methane activation and dissociation contributes to the higher DRM activity of the Zr-doped catalyst with maximum oxygen storage capacity, as inferred from rigorous kinetic and mechanism studies.
