Diffusivity of α-, β-, γ-cyclodextrin and the inclusion complex of β-cyclodextrin: Ibuprofen in aqueous solutions; A molecular dynamics simulation study

Mate Erdos et al.

Summary: Cyclodextrins are widely used in various applications, and this study investigated the diffusion of native alpha-, beta- and gamma-CDs in aqueous solutions through Molecular Dynamics simulations. The study found that system size and water force field can affect the computed self-diffusivity of CDs, and different force field combinations can accurately predict the diffusion coefficients of CDs. Additionally, simulations using different force fields showed varying results in terms of ion affinity and diffusivity of CDs in aqueous-NaCl solutions.

A detailed computational study on binding of kinase inhibitors into β-cyclodextrin: inclusion complex formation

Maryam Faraj Pour Mojdehi et al.

Summary: The limited aqueous solubility of certain drugs can reduce their bioavailability, making inclusion complex formation with beta-cyclodextrin a promising method for drug delivery enhancement. Extensive molecular dynamics simulations revealed that these drugs are insoluble in water and require a carrier to increase solubility. The binding of these drugs into beta-cyclodextrin was thermodynamically favorable, leading to improved solubility and bioavailability.
