Elimination of Vibrio parahaemolyticus biofilms on crab and shrimp surfaces using ultraviolet C irradiation coupled with sodium hypochlorite and slightly acidic electrolyzed water

Pantu Kumar Roy et al.

Summary: The study found that slightly acidic electrolyzed water (SAEW) alone had a significant impact on Vibrio parahaemolyticus biofilms, while the combined treatments of UV-C/NaOCl and UV-C/SAEW also effectively reduced the pathogen levels in seafood products.

Effects of environmental conditions (temperature, pH, and glucose) on biofilm formation of Salmonella enterica serotype Kentucky and virulence gene expression

Pantu Kumar Roy et al.

Summary: Higher temperatures (25 to 42 degrees C) and pH values (7.0 and 8.0) led to more robust biofilm formation than lower temperatures (4 and 10 degrees C) and lower pH levels (4.0 to 6.0). Biofilm formation was induced by 0.025% glucose during incubation at the optimum temperature (37 degrees C) and pH (7.0) but inhibited by 0.4% glucose.

Comprehensive molecular, probiotic, and quorum-sensing characterization of anti-listerial lactic acid bacteria, and application as bioprotective in a food (milk) model

Md Iqbal Hossain et al.

Summary: In this study, 6 anti-listerial lactic acid bacteria isolates were identified and evaluated for probiotic properties. The isolates showed resistance to common antibiotics, absence of virulence genes, and antibacterial activity, making them promising candidates for use as protective cultures and probiotics in the food and dairy industries.
