ASAP: assemble species by automatic partitioning

Nicolas Puillandre et al.

Summary: ASAP is a fast and efficient method for constructing species partitions from single locus sequence alignments. It offers a new scoring system without prior biological insight, and can be used through a graphical web interface or downloaded for local usage.

First record ofMiniopterus schreibersii(Chiroptera: Miniopteridae) in Poland-a possible range expansion?

Krzysztof Piksa et al.

Summary: This paper describes the first record of Schreiber's bent-winged bat in Poland, at a more northerly site for this part of Europe. The likely migration route and the causes for a widening of the species distribution range are discussed in the study. Observations suggest that, like other Mediterranean species, it has expanded its range in northerly direction.

Rudnicula goffi n. sp. (Acariformes: Trombiculidae) from the diadem leaf-nosed bat Hipposideros diadema (Geoffroy) (Chiroptera: Hipposideridae) on Bali, Indonesia

Stanislav Kaluz et al.

Summary: A new species of chigger mite, Rudnicula goffi n. sp., was discovered on the diadem leaf-nosed bat Hipposideros diadema in the Goa Peteng Cave on Bali, Indonesia. This new species differs from closely related species and belongs to a genus mainly found in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Australia.

A new species of Chiroptella Vercammen-Grandjean, 1960 (Acari: Trombiculidae) from diadem leaf-nosed bat Hipposideros diadema (Geoffroy) (Chiroptera: Hipposideridae) in Bali Island (Indonesia) with distribution records, hosts, and a key to the species of the genus

Martin Sevcik et al.

Summary: A new chigger mite species, Chiroptella baliensis n. sp., is described in this paper, bringing the total number of species in the genus Chiroptella to 22. The distribution and associations of Chiroptella species with various bat families across different regions are also discussed, along with the key to identifying all members of the genus and new combinations for two species.

A New Genus of Chiggers (Trombidiformes: Trombiculidae) from Bats in Jamaica

Ricardo Bassini-Silva et al.

Summary: This study describes a new genus and species parasitizing the Antillean ghost-faced bat in Jamaica. The new genus can be distinguished by specific features and contributes to the understanding of chiggers parasitizing bats in Jamaica. This is only the second record of a chigger parasitizing this particular host in the country.
