Curing reaction and properties of a kind of fluorinated phthalonitrile containing benzoxazine

Dengxun Ren et al.

Summary: Introduction of fluorinated substituents in molecular chains is an efficient method to prepare materials with decreased dielectric constant and loss, as demonstrated in the synthesis of a kind of fluorinated phthalonitrile containing benzoxazine. The cured BPAF-ph showed double-stage curing reaction behaviors and good processability, with structures and properties being influenced by different post curing procedures. The glass fiber reinforced BPAF-ph composites exhibited promising properties in terms of thermal and mechanical stability.

Synthesis and characterization of bisphthalonitrile-terminated polyimide precursors with unique advantages in processing and adhesive properties

Caizhao Liu et al.

Summary: The synthesized polyimide precursors demonstrated lower melt temperature and good solubility, while the cured resins based on curing accelerator achieved high glass transition temperature and char yields. The para-linked prepolymers derived from 4-amino-3,5-xylenol showed the highest lap shear strength at 300 degrees C, indicating potential application as high temperature structural adhesives.

Thermal curing mechanism of acetylene-terminated polyimides: A combination of density functional theory computation and microkinetic analysis

Zuowei Chen et al.

Summary: The mechanical and thermal properties of acetylene-terminated polyimides depend on the cross-linked structures, which are formed from arylethynyl groups. Understanding the curing mechanisms and predicting the cured products of these polyimides are important for developing high-temperature resins. Quantum chemical computations and microkinetic analysis were used to study the thermal curing reaction, revealing pathways of forming key structures and the role of radicals in determining the composition of cured products. The results provide insights into tuning the structure of final cured resins based on different curing conditions.
