Summary: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of SPIN in orthodontic meta-analyses, finding that nearly half of the studies included SPIN in their abstracts, especially in meta-analyses of observational studies. Efforts to improve the quality of research findings dissemination are needed.

Trial registration and selective outcome reporting in Endodontic Research: Evidence over a 5-year period

Giorgos N. Tzanetakis et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the registration of clinical trials and outcome reporting discrepancies in endodontic research, finding that a significant proportion of trials were registered and discrepancies in reporting outcomes were common. Recent publications were more likely to be registered, highlighting the need for prospective registration practices to improve transparency and accuracy in research.

Use of quality assessment tools within systematic reviews in orthodontics during the last decade: looking for a threshold?

Filippos Mikelis et al.

Summary: The study investigated the prevalence and extent of quality assessment and risk of bias tools in orthodontic systematic reviews, finding that around one third of the reviews stipulated a threshold for evaluating primary studies, mostly through sensitivity analyses. Publication journal and inclusion of meta-analysis were identified as significant predictors for preplanning thresholds.
