Synthesis of a zigzag carbon nanobelt

Summary: The synthesis, isolation and structural characterization of a zigzag CNB have been reported, using an iterative Diels-Alder reaction sequence and reductive aromatization method. The compound was isolated as a stable compound and its structure was fully characterized by X-ray crystallography, revealing wide energy gap and blue fluorescence properties through photophysical measurements. This research provides a synthetic strategy for all three types of CNB, paving the way for the precise synthesis of CNTs.

Synthesis of Zigzag Carbon Nanobelts through Scholl Reactions

Summary: New strategies for designing and synthesizing unprecedented zigzag carbon nanobelts have been reported, demonstrating their structure and binding properties with C60 in solution. The formation of multiple carbon-carbon bonds through Scholl reactions, as well as the increase in strain during the ladderization process of these nanobelts through Scholl reactions, were successfully validated in this study.
