Groundwater Potential Zone Mapping Using Analytical Hierarchy Process and GIS in Muga Watershed, Abay Basin, Ethiopia

Tadele Melese et al.

Summary: This study assesses and delineates the groundwater recharge zone in the Muga watershed, Abay Basin using geospatial technology and an analytical hierarchal process method. Weighted overlay index analysis and validation datasets are used to verify prediction accuracy, with reasonably acceptable results shown by calculated consistency index and consistency ratio.

Multi-decadal groundwater variability analysis using geostatistical method for groundwater sustainability

Zubairul Islam et al.

Summary: The study aimed to understand groundwater level changes in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, India from 2001 to 2020 using geostatistical analysis. The results indicated a highly clustered spatial pattern of groundwater level change, with a significant decrease observed in 75% of the study area. The relationship between groundwater level change and population density was found to be spatially varying.

Delineation of groundwater potential zones in lower Rihand River Basin, India using geospatial techniques and AHP

Narender Verma et al.

Summary: This study delineated groundwater potential zones in Lower Rihand River Basin using remote sensing, GIS, and AHP. Nine thematic layers were prepared and weighted to categorize the basin into very poor, poor, moderate, good, and very good groundwater potential zones. Geospatial technology combined with AHP proved to be effective in this delineation process.

Summary: Groundwater, an essential natural resource for various activities, was geospatially mapped using GIS, MCDM, AHP, and remote sensing techniques in this study. The methodology and results were accurate in determining different groundwater potential zones and can be useful in similar drought-prone regions globally.

Evaluation of groundwater potential using Dempster-Shafer model and sensitivity analysis of effective factors: A case study of north Khuzestan province

Sahereh Obeidavi et al.

Summary: Utilizing the Dempster-Shafer learning model and remote sensing data, a groundwater potential evaluation in the north of Khuzestan was conducted. By preparing 9 parameter layers and selecting 474 wells in high potential areas as real data for training and testing, a groundwater potential map with 86% accuracy was obtained. Sensitivity analysis of effective parameters showed that lithology, soil type, and slope percent have the most impact on the accuracy of the model.

Groundwater quality assessment using water quality index (WQI) under GIS framework

Arjun Ram et al.

Summary: The study investigated the suitability of groundwater for human consumption in District Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, India. Water quality parameters were analyzed to estimate the groundwater quality and the Water Quality Index (WQI) was applied to classify the water quality. The overall WQI indicates that the groundwater is safe for drinking, with a few localized areas in need of attention due to water quality issues.
