Minimizing hazard impacts of soil salinity and water stress on wheat plants by soil application of vermicompost and biochar

Emad M. Hafez et al.

Summary: Vermicompost improved wheat growth and yield, while biochar showed potential for enhancing soil quality and nutrient uptake. The combination of vermicompost and biochar further increased growth and yield, highlighting the beneficial effect of vermicompost on plant yield. This investigation revealed that the synergistic effect of vermicompost and biochar can enhance crop production and mitigate the detrimental effects of soil salinity and water stress.

Plasma Hsp90 levels in patients with systemic sclerosis and relation to lung and skin involvement: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

Hana Storkanova et al.

Summary: According to the study, plasma levels of Hsp90 are increased in patients with systemic sclerosis compared to healthy controls, and are associated with increased inflammatory activity, worsened lung function, and extent of skin involvement in patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis. In patients with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease treated with cyclophosphamide, baseline Hsp90 levels can predict changes in DLCO over 12 months of therapy.

Paclobutrazol as a plant growth regulator

Bizuayehu Desta et al.

Summary: Plant growth regulators such as Paclobutrazol can modify hormonal balance, increase yield, enhance crop tolerance against stress, and improve physiological traits. PBZ affects plant hormones by inhibiting gibberellin synthesis and increasing cytokinins level, resulting in reduced stem elongation. Application on growing media is more effective than foliar spray in terms of absorption.

Effects of biochar, farm manure, and pressmud on mineral nutrients and cadmium availability to wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in Cd-contaminated soil

Abdul Majeed et al.

Summary: The study showed that the use of rice straw biochar (RSB), maize stalk biochar (MSB), farmyard manure (FYM), and pressmud (PRM) can reduce cadmium concentrations in wheat grain and increase yield. Among these amendments, MSB was found to be more effective in decreasing cadmium concentrations in wheat leaves and grains compared to other conventional organic amendments.

Changes in Growth, Physiology, and Fatty Acid Profile of Rapeseed Cultivars Treated with Vermicompost Under Drought Stress

Akram Feizabadi et al.

Summary: The management of organic fertilizers and irrigation regimes have become the main focus in agricultural practices in recent years. The study evaluated the growth, physiological properties, and fatty acid composition of six rapeseed cultivars under different irrigation regimes and vermicompost application. The results showed that drought stress reduced plant growth and yield, but increased proline concentration, with Zafar and Hyola4815 cultivars performing the best under well-water conditions.
