A Versatile Nb2O5/SnO2 Heterostructure for Different Environmental Purposes: Water Treatment and Artificial Photosynthesis

Thais A. Rodrigues et al.

Summary: A versatile Nb2O5/SnO2 heterostructure has been successfully synthesized, showing enhanced performance in photocatalysis, CO2 photoreduction, and adsorption compared to pure Nb2O5. The negative surface charge induced by SnO2 and charge separation in the heterostructure extend the lifetime of photoexcited carriers, facilitating oxidative and reductive reactions, making it a unique platform for different environmental treatments.

Green synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles using Salvia hispanica L. (chia) seeds extract and studies of their photocatalytic activity and cytotoxicity effects

Zahra Sabouri et al.

Summary: In this study, NiO-NPs were produced using Chia seeds extract as the capping agent, with physical and morphological features examined through various techniques. The biosynthesized NiO-NPs were found to have a spherical shape and contained oxygen and nickel elements. The XRD pattern showed corresponding peaks to the crystal structure of NiO-NPs, while VSM analysis detected superparamagnetic behavior and reported non-concentration-dependent cytotoxicity effects. The high photocatalytic capacity and low cytotoxic effects of NiO-NPs suggest their applicability for disease control and toxin removal.
