Efficiency increase in hypercrosslinked polymer based on polystyrene in CO2 adsorption process

Hamid Ramezanipour Penchah et al.

Summary: The hypercrosslinked polymer based on polystyrene was used as an adsorbent for CO2 adsorption, and response surface methodology was employed to optimize the synthesis parameters for maximum adsorption capacity. The results showed that the Hill and Elovich models had better precision in predicting adsorbent behavior, and thermodynamic modeling indicated that physisorption is the main mechanism for CO2 adsorption by the polystyrene-based adsorbent.

Summary: In this study, the performance of two low-cost industrial products in removing lead from an aqueous solution was compared, with ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS) being more efficient than phosphorus slag (PS) under the same conditions. The most influential parameter on the adsorption capacity was the adsorbent weight, while other parameters had no significant effects, and the influence of rotation rate was only observed at low adsorbent weights.
