Revealing the strong interaction effect of MnOx nanoparticles and Nb2O5 supports with variable morphologies on catalytic propane oxidation

Yating Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that different morphologies of Nb2O5 supports significantly influence the catalytic activity of MnOx catalysts, with the layer-like morphology of MnOx/Nb2O5-L showing the best performance. However, MnOx/Nb2O5-L exhibits good surface dispersion and strong metal-support interaction, but suffers from irreversible deactivation after long-term catalytic reactions.

Efficient propane low-temperature destruction by Co3O4 crystal facets engineering: Unveiling the decisive role of lattice and oxygen defects and surface acid-base pairs

Yanfei Jian et al.

Summary: The low-temperature degradation of short chain alkanes is a major challenge in purifying volatile organic compounds. Co3O4 nanomaterials with different crystal facets were fabricated, and rod-like structures showed the highest activity due to their unique properties. The rod-like structure of Co3O4 has the lowest formation energy of oxygen vacancies on the (110) facet, making it an efficient catalyst for propane oxidation.

Enhanced Ammonia Synthesis Activity of Ceria-Supported Ruthenium Catalysts Induced by CO Activation

Bingyu Lin et al.

Summary: Metal-support interactions strongly impact the catalytic performances of ceria-supported metal catalysts, and hydrogen treatment at high temperature is essential for the preparation of catalysts with strong metal-support interaction (SMSI). CO activation of a Ru/CeO2 catalyst enhances the reduction degree and exposure of Ru species, leading to the formation of electron-enriched Ru delta- species and Ru delta-OV-Ce3+ sites, resulting in high ammonia synthesis activity and alleviating the ill effect of hydrogen poisoning. These findings are crucial for designing supported metal catalysts with metallic species as active sites.

Catalytic Combustion of Propane over MnNbOx Composite Oxides: The Promotional Role of Niobium

Kai Zeng et al.

Summary: Metal-doping with niobium as a modification additive enhances the catalytic activity of MnOx for propane combustion. Niobium insertion into manganese oxides promotes the formation of Mn3O4 crystalline phase, increases redox ability and surface oxygen species, and provides more acid sites, crucial for catalytic activity enhancement. Mn0.85Nb0.15Ox catalyst shows the highest propane conversion efficiency and good durability under CO2-containing atmospheres, with surface acidity playing an important role in propane adsorption, activation, and oxidation pathways.

Summary: Catalytic combustion is an advanced technology used to eliminate industrial volatile organic compounds. By designing homogeneous interfaces, a mesocrystalline CeO2 catalyst with abundant Ce-Ce homogeneous interfaces was synthesized and showed enhanced catalytic performance for toluene combustion. The abundant Ce-Ce homogeneous interfaces formed by highly ordered stacking and small grain size endow the CeO2 mesocrystal with superior redox property and oxygen storage capacity.
