Factors affecting antimonate bioreduction by Dechloromonas sp. AR-2 and Propionivibrio sp. AR-3

Ziran Yang et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential of bacterial strains AR-2 and AR-3 in practical treatment of Sb(v)-containing wastewater by investigating the effects of different conditions on Sb(v) reduction and removal by these strains. The results showed that the two strains exhibited efficient Sb(v) reduction and removal over a certain temperature and pH range, indicating a promising application in the treatment of Sb(v)-containing wastewater.

Production of two morphologically different antimony trioxides by a novel antimonate-reducing bacterium, Geobacter sp. SVR

Shigeki Yamamura et al.

Summary: Strain SVR, a dissimilatory antimonate-reducing bacterium, was isolated from soil and demonstrated the ability to reduce Sb(V) to precipitates. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the precipitates to be Sb2O3, known as valentinite, with the bacterium able to form two different crystalline Sb2O3 structures under different pH conditions.
