Blue carbon stocks, accumulation rates, and associated spatial variability in Brazilian mangroves

Vanessa Hatje et al.

Summary: The study found that salinity gradient has a less significant impact on the distribution of organic carbon and nitrogen stocks in mangrove soils, while there is greater variability along the intertidal gradient. In Brazil, the C-org storage in the upper meter of soils accounts for 3-8% of the carbon stored in mangrove soils globally.

Long-term fertilization affects functional soil organic carbon protection mechanisms in a profile of Chinese loess plateau soil

Syed Atizaz Ali Shah et al.

Summary: The study found that long-term fertilization can increase the content of SOC in the soil, with significant differences in protection mechanisms within the soil profile. In the topsoil, the unprotected cPOC fraction was the largest accumulating fraction, while SOC content was lower in the subsoil layers. Therefore, fertilization treatments have a significant impact on different carbon sequestration fractions in the soil.
