Influence of postnatal polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposure on the neurodevelopment of toddlers at the age of 12 months

Dan Lin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that exposure to PAHs in 12-month-old toddlers could impact their neurodevelopment, particularly in relation to 1(9) hydroxyphenanthrene concentration and PAH-DNA adducts being negatively correlated with DQs for fine motor behaviors.

Exposure to prenatal phthalate mixtures and neurodevelopment in the Conditions Affecting Neurocognitive Development and Learning in Early childhood (CANDLE) study

Christine T. Loftus et al.

Summary: Despite inconsistent findings from epidemiological studies, the largest study to date on the relationship between prenatal phthalate mixtures and child cognitive development showed predominantly null associations. The novel extension of WQS regression improved sensitivity to detect true associations and outperformed traditional methods in simulated data. Further research is needed to explore individual metabolite associations and potential effects of exposure mixtures on language and IQ outcomes.

Quality assurance and harmonization for targeted biomonitoring measurements of environmental organic chemicals across the Children?s Health Exposure Analysis Resource laboratory network

Kurunthachalam Kannan et al.

Summary: A consortium of laboratories under CHEAR used a multifaceted quality assurance program to ensure reliable and reproducible data quality for trace organics analyses. Participation in external quality assurance programs and the use of a common quality control pool for each project sample batch improved organic chemical analysis capabilities and accuracy. The laboratories' methods were verified through NIST SRMs, demonstrating acceptable analytical precision and excellent reliability across various batches.
