Summary: Three epidemiological studies have shown an inverse association between prenatal acrylamide exposure and birth size. This study further investigates this relationship and the interaction with genetic variations in acrylamide-metabolizing genes. The results suggest that prenatal dietary acrylamide exposure, particularly in the form of its metabolite glycidamide, is inversely associated with birth weight, length, and head circumference. Interaction patterns with certain genetic variations may indicate causality, but further studies are needed for confirmation.
