Cyclic performance of a monopile in spatially variable clay using an advanced constitutive model

Summary: This study examines the cyclic performance of a laterally-loaded monopile in spatially variable clay for the first time. It was found that under cyclic loading, the monopile exhibits ratcheting behavior and an increase in cyclic secant stiffness. The soil response to an extreme dynamic event showed an accumulation of excess pore-water pressure over time.
